In my internship site in the Aspire program, there has been an ongoing issue with children using their phones to send sexually explicit material to other students. This raises red flags for the children living in one of the most crime-ridden areas of Dorchester, not knowing the dangers of sexting and social media. There are issues in the community surrounding the school of sexual predators. Raising awareness for the children and their online activity at home and at school can prevent future problems with sexual predators. When someone makes a post on Facebook saying they are at their friend's house, or at school, etc., it is possible to see where the have posted it from geographically. Since there are easy ways to track or monitor a child through Facebook and social media sites, if there was a way to raise awareness for the students at the school as well as neighboring schools in the community about the risks and dangers of unsafe and unmonitored use of the Internet, that could be beneficial for children as well as parents/guardians.
