A resource fair will be held to help veterans with education, jobs, training, health care and other issues.
The fair is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Gateway Community College in New Haven, in Room N-100 of the North Building.
U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro plans to speak at 10:30 a.m. Other participants include Quinnipiac University, the U.S. Small Business Administration, Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs, Wells Fargo and Mohegan Sun.
Veterans will be able to meet with local businesses and access resources.
Connecticut's unemployment rate was 7.4 percent in December.
Veterans issues seem to be getting a fair amount of attention. There are billboards encouraging people to hire vets and also TV advertisements. Vets involved in the latest conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq are getting better support than either those in the Viet Nam or Gulf War conflicts. That's a good thing.
