ACCOKEEK, Md. (WUSA) -- As a martial arts instructor, Lloyd Irvin says he was able to protect his family as two masked gunman invaded his home in middle of the night.

When Lloyd Irvin successfully disarmed a gun-toting home invader back in October 2008, he may have dodged a much bigger bullet than being robbed, as was assumed to be the reason behind the break in at his Maryland home.

When I woke up there were two gunmen standing over top of me telling me that I was being robbed. When I first looked, I looked at them and thought it was a dream.

Team Lloyd Irvin's Mixed Martial Arts Academy have been conducted a play host to hundreds of women from all over the DC, Maryland and Virginia area for their a self defence and rape prevention seminar. Irvin's school offers these seminars once every few months at no cost to women to ensure that women in the community know how to defend themselves.

The raising issues in the society on rape and harassments made Lloyd Irvin to take a serious step and it has come forward to help women from their side.

Lloyd Irvin is a mixed martial art academy where it has now started a new class especially for women called self defense and rape protection classes. These are trained for women by only the women tutors.

The special self defence against rape for women program started by Lloyd Irvin is not a traditional or ordinary program you follow to learn some basics of self defence.
