Our clothing consists of hearts that are tender and filled with compassion displaying mercy; human-kindness that overflows to meet the needs of others; a humble preference to put others first; a meek, spirit-controlled temperament; and the willingness to go the distance with others without complaint-these are the new clothes.
Reflections on Galatians 5:22-23a
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
When Jesus calls you/me into ministry (any kind of ministry; Romans 12:4-8), what will be our response? Will we immediately make the step of faith? Or will we hold back (making the usual excuses)? When Jesus makes the call, do we have our minds set for service?
Heavenly Father, remind us each day that, of all the gifts you give us, the greatest gift is love… And help us to be slow to judge and quick to forgive, ready to share your patience, empathy and love.
If the spiritual is more important than the physical, how should we spend our time and effort? If what we do is more important than what we say, how should we approach ministry? If (the ongoing work of) Salvation is more important than miracles, which one do we need to solve our problems?
I'm excited to share with you this conversation with a ministry hero of mine, Dr. Daryl Eldridge. Dr. Eldridge is one of the founders and the President of my seminary, Rockridge. Rockbridge is a 100% online seminary that is creating an affordable and flexible yet highly effective seminary training for ministry leaders without having to leave ministry to attend.
