The quality of our worship depends upon our knowledge of the One whom we worship. If we have a poor understanding of God's character and nature, our worship will be very weak. Little knowledge means weak worship.
If we only know the Lord - thru His Word, then we will love Him, for "He alone is the God to be worshipped."
Jesus came to reveal the Father. He is the perfect copy of His nature. [Heb.1:1-3] The Father told Jesus what to say and teach. [Jn.5:19] To see and know Jesus is to see and know the Father. [Jn 10:30] The Father truly revealed His great love to us thru the life and death of His Son. [1 Jn 4:9]
The Old and New Testament showed that Jesus is the Only Way to the Father. [Jn.14:6] Hence, in the New Testament, Jesus became our High Priest and the sacrifice, the way by which we can come to the Father and worship Him directly. [Heb.10:19-22]
Phil.2:10-11 declares that Jesus is worthy of our worship. Even angels worship Jesus. [Rev.15:4; 22:9]
If we think of God only as someone who meets our needs [such as healing, deliverance, or salvation], our level of worship will never rise to a higher level. Worship Him for who He is and not just for what He does. [Zech.14:17]
