Bible Study - How to Pray - Two Types of Application Prayer - Prayer Bible Study - 0 views

  •
Prayer is the way of reaching God. Life is full of trials and situations that we don't know how to face on our own, and there is nothing too small or too big to ask God for in Prayer. Jesus said we do not have what we need because we fail to ask. I want to help provide a Prayer Bible Study of hope and peace in hard times that only God can give. I have personally seen God answer prayers and I would be honored to share with You His Principles and the proper way to pray for your needs.

Lessons from the Barnyard « Reflections in the WORD - 0 views

The story of the shepherd seeking his lost sheep became very, very real to me that night, and I'm not ashamed to admit that those stupid lost hens brought me to tears of humility. Do we not do the same to our Heavenly Father? He shows us green fields, and we race back to the emptiness of what's familiar… even those with years of experience in walking with God, we can be caught unawares. All of us, at some time or another, stray away from God's best, and need the Shepherd to come find us.

Rob Bell on Hell, Part 2, and the Gospel | Bible.org Blogs - 0 views

  • Somehow for Bell God's rejection of people and judgment of them for not responding to His kindness and grace is a reflection on God and not on the one who has refused to respond to God!
  • Now where is the justice in this assessment of God by Bell? Our choice and refusal ends up being an indictment on God's character for responding by accepting the choice we made. And it is not as if God did not reveal the importance and consequences of the choice we make as He was making the offer.
  • what Bell misses is that this action was not made in the blink of an eye. It was a considered and revealed judgment that God announced would be his response if we refuse to acknowledge Him and His way and His right as God. God laid all his cards on the table long before we responded. God played His hand when He had Jesus die for us and offer us the joyous life Bell so well describes.

  • The result is that people are not challenged to reflect on how they think about and approach God with humility and faith; rather they can now blame Him for their own failures. We become a society of victims where we make the call on what makes God just.

Euangelion: Love Wins 2 - 0 views

  • Have we somehow misunderstood or twisted the truth of what Jesus came to do? Well, this is a huge question that would require survey of Gospel accounts let alone a wide-ranging study of Gospel presentations today. Neither of which did Love Wins provide. So, it is certainly an overstatement.
  • many Christians sitting in our churches are secretly asking them, but afraid to raise them publicly.
  • I’d be shocked if we conducted a survey of people in our churches and not many of them were either pluralistic or universalists. There is the official teaching of the church and then there is what the Christians who sit in the pews believe. Often these are two very different things.

  • Do you really mean to say that the central truth of Christianity is about getting out of hell and into heaven? Or, are you presenting this as Rob's view? If so, I'd have to disagree with you. Can you elaborate?
    • J. B.

If we understand Hell as a place of separation from (right) relationship with God and a place of being subjected to the wrath of God, then isn't this at the very heart of the gospel?
  • it is not accurate by any stretch to call orthodox a view that (1) tends toward universalism, (2) presents a “second-chance” theology, and (3) argues that nothing of what is central to the Gospel story is about “getting in”. This view can claim the label orthodoxy about as much as those found among the Gnostic Gospels. Sure there were so-called Christians used these texts and who thought of them as Christian Scripture, but they were on the very fringes of early Christianity representing only a very small minority.
  • Well we haven't defined heaven yet which is important in such a discussion, but yes I think a central aspect of Jesus teaching was getting into the soon coming kingdom which I equate with heaven.

When Jesus calls you/me into ministry (any kind of ministry; Romans 12:4-8), what will be our response? Will we immediately make the step of faith? Or will we hold back (making the usual excuses)? When Jesus makes the call, do we have our minds set for service?

Payback « Reflections in the WORD - 0 views

Whatever the suffering we might be experiencing as a consequence for following our own way instead of God's way, the promise of God still extends to us: If we will recommit our lives to Him; if we will serve Him; if we will do things His way; if we will look at life through His eyes; then God promises to restore the years we have lost: "the years that the locust hath eaten".

Jesus and the Declaring Devils: Fanfare Foments Furor not Faith « Reflections... - 0 views

  •
If the people of Capernaum refused to believe Jesus when He identified Himself as the Messiah, do you think they would have believed it if the devils declared it?? Certainly not, it would just have been a bigger spectacle. Likewise, anyone who refuses to accept Jesus as Saviour now, will reject Him even if demons jumped up and declared him to be the Son of God.

The enemy knows our weaknesses, and we need to be aware of them as well, because that is exactly where he will strike time after time… When we fail to use the armor of God we become ineffective soldiers for God…

Nothing but the Blood! « Reflections in the WORD - 0 views

Some treat the blood of Christ as nothing special, they say it was no different from any other blood, but that is NOT what God says in His Word… Only through faith in the blood of Christ can we be saved…

Righteous Representation « Reflections in the WORD - 0 views

  •
There should be no arrogance and pride involved when witnessing for Christ… we are to behave with gentleness and respect in all we say and do towards unbelievers. We should not 'beat the unsaved about the head' with the Word of God, but rather present it with love and caring.

Precious Promises Prevail over Persistent Problems - 0 views

…our faith in God may be tested to the ultimate. How will we come out on the other side of difficult situations? Will we emerge from our troubles and trials giving Christ the victory for having clung to Him and the promises in His Word?
