Make a Printer Friendly & PDF version of any webpage. Common Core emphasizes nonfiction reading, but it isn't always easy to find short, appropriate print texts to use in lessons. One option is to use Printfriendly.com to convert a busy website page into a PDF text file that is visually easier for students to read and work with. You have control over the font size and which (if any) extraneous information you want to eliminate. I recently used Printfriendly.com to create text sets on invasive species for the 6th grade WISER students and it worked very well. If you want to try it and need help, just let me know :-) Example: I converted a web page about Zebra Mussels into a PDF file (see attached) which was then printed for students to read and annotate.
