Hamburger menu, drawer menu, off-canvas menu: Whatever you call it, hiding a website's primary navigation just off screen is becoming a ubiquitous pattern in responsive web design. More and more sites feature a fixed-position icon that, when tapped, pushes the entire site to the side to reveal a hidden navigation menu.

The aural rendering of a document, already commonly used by the blind and print-impaired communities, combines speech synthesis and "auditory icons." Often such aural presentation occurs by converting the document to plain text and feeding this to a -- software or hardware that simply reads all the characters on the screen.

Almost every new client these days wants a mobile version of their website. It's practically essential after all: one design for the BlackBerry, another for the iPhone, the iPad, netbook, Kindle - and all screen resolutions must be compatible, too. In the next five years, we'll likely need to design for a number of additional inventions.
