Blog for Storybird - 1 views

This blog has an abundance of information for Storybird. It has explanations of how to use several aspects of this unique Web 2.0 tool. It was a great resource for me when I was collecting information on how to share stories and the impact Storybird has on families. I like that it has comments and opinions from actual users of Storybird, not just the company's employees opinions.

Great resource for overall technology with early childhood populations. NAEYC supported information. At the bottom there is an introduction to Storybird as an online activity for children. In addition there is a section titled "Appropriate Practices." It is important to make sure the activity the children are getting involved in is suitable for their developmental skills.

Although we have been introduced to this professional organization through our CEP 810 course, I find it extremely important to our research. This organization is focused on educational technology, which is directly connected to our SIG proposal. We are arguing that Storybird not only will promote literacy skills, but also technology independence. Since MACUL is promoting learning through technology, I found it important to include this organization as a resource.

This website contains multiple web-based applications that can be used for either organizing lessons, teaching, or in the classroom used by the students. I found it to be very informational because of the large amount of available resources. Since my original bookmarking, we have decided to focus primarily on the use of digital storytelling. I still find it important to include this link, however, because it is important to compare Storybird to other Web 2.0 teaching tools. It is also important to understand the importance of Web 2.0 teaching tools in the classroom.

This website is amazing! It has a lot of different web 2.0 applications that students can use. I am going to try to use a lot of them in my classroom! This website also includes Storybird which we are using for our SIG proposal. It is interesting to compare Storybird to some of the other available web 2.0 applications, and through this comparison I have realized that Storybird appears to be the best tool to use for this age group. It is always important to compare resources, and this website allows us to view many popular tools with a simple click.

Since we are are researching Storybird and finding ways to use it in our teaching, I have located a YouTube video about Storybird. It describes the basic set-up of Storybird, how to get started, and how to begin creating a story. Not everyone is familiar with Storybird and how to make stories using this tool, and by viewing this video we can learn more about the tool which, in turn, will help us to better teach our students how to use Storybird.

This article explains why digital storytelling is so important to the classroom. It also touches on the fact that it promotes reading and writing skills, and a basic understanding of why we should incorporate digital storytelling into our student learning. Since we chose digital storytelling (Storybird specifically) because we feel it is important to literacy, it is important to locate information that supports our claim. This article goes a bit deeper in that it doesn't only explain what digital storytelling is, but why it is so important in our teaching and student learning.

This is a pdf of two lesson plans that were centered on Storybird. One is for a kindergarten classroom, while the other is for a middle school classroom. It is great to see how this tool can be adapted to meet the needs of all learners. This also addresses one of our goals of locating lesson plans and creating lesson plans centered on Storybird. It helps to better visualize how Storybird is being used in teaching, regardless of the grade level.

I loved this information because it includes a basic overview, how it can be used in the classroom, variations, and hints for the classroom. It gives a general overview for someone who may be new to Storybird, and covers a great deal of information in a shorter piece.Since our SIG proposal is centered on Storybird, I felt that it was important to include an overview of the tool that we are focusing on.
