Many students don't know who the real audience is for their course evaluations. Brian Croxall has an interesting solution for that - tell them that the audience is the students in the next class.

It seems early for this, with a week of classes and a week of exams left to go, but perhaps these tasks are good mental breaks from all the grading. They also might form the technical side of good reflective practice.

How are you thinking about wrapping up your courses this year?

A few tips from Ball State about ways to wrap up a course. What will you do in the last week of class to give students a solid sense of what they've learned and how to bring that knowledge to their next experiences?

From Endicott College, an interesting set of suggestions for using the last day of the class to help culminate the class experience and show the transitions to the next steps. Some of these require a fair amount of planning (portfolios and pre- and post-tests) while others (concept mapping and syllabus review) probably could be used on a moment's notice. I particularly like the last suggestion... maybe the CIP needs a fortune cookie machine?

Interesting to connect the job of helping students prepare for end-of-semester assignments or exams with the goal of bringing a sense of closure to your course.

It's important to reserve some time for reflection at the end of the semester, to review where you thought your classes were going and where they actually ended up. (But don't forget to review the positive too - what worked as or even better than expected?)

Some interesting examples here of questions you can ask students to help cement the major concepts of your courses. (Some of these would fit in nicely as part of your personal questions in the course evaluation system!)

It may be a little late for this, but tomorrow it will be even later. Take a relaxed summer moment to jot down some reflections for your future self.
