    Where the desert satisfies the mountains in the southeastern part of Arizona sets a bit town by the name of Morenci. I've generally lived in Arizona, since I came to be in Thatcher, Arizona and now live in my hometown of Morenci. Everywhere I go people, wonder and ask me, where's Morenci? How can you reach Morenci? How much is it from Phoenix? Now I have gotten pretty good at explaining where it's over the span of my entire life, but people still don't know very well what an excellent place Morenci in fact is. Sure there's no mall, clothing shops, or possibly a Wal-Mart, but besides those details, Morenci has its own good qualities.

    To start, we have the largest copper mine in the Usa. Phelps Dodge is the firm who own this mine. Phelps Dodge is also the second-largest mining company in the world. Now I understand that is very large in dimensions. Many visitors arrive at Morenci to find out that "big hole" in the earth, and trust me on this, it's a LARGE hole. I would not really call this area a town or city. We are more of the mining camp. I've heard people comment on our humble invest Arizona, and they have compared it to a military base. I guess I can easily see where that comes from. Morenci is nothing but dead-ends, houses, mountains, and our three stoplights..yes I said three. But like I said, it has its wonders and glories just like any other place these days. People just really need to get accustomed to the little town life to comprehend.

    Yet another great section of Morenci is among my and most people in this town's favorite pass-time, which can be the San Francisco Bay Area River. There are numerous corrals down by the San Francisco Bay Area River where many people keep their domesticated animals. We've families which can be known for their horses, chickens, goats, etc. Camping is one of Morenci's specialties. People can get on their four-wheelers virtually every weekend throughout the summer and spring time because they can not wait for the fishing, hunting, and scouting. You can not do that in the big-city. The lake hosts a few activities for the summer. The big rig vehicles are what most people see around this town. Getting across the water and the various crossings we've to go across is our goal. Having memories of who got stuck where and who'd to be taken out from the crossings can be a joy. Swimming in the lake is a good way to cool off. This hot Arizona weather is a killer, and undoubtedly that we do stay in a desert. It is dry during the summer, therefore the lake is a great place to experience. Morenci even offers some interesting history to it, at the same time.

    Geronimo's homeland was in Clifton, Arizona about four miles or 8 minutes away from Morenci. We've a famous artist by the title of Ted De Grazia who graduated from Morenci Senior High School. Ted De Grazia is famous for his western paintings and lived in Morenci back the first 1900's. An original painting from him is displayed at the Morenci Senior High School in a glass case and framed in memory of him. Many headlines were made by the Phelps Dodge 1983 Strike. This is where countless workers were laid off or leave. My parents themselves had that reach along with various other family members.

    Besides those facts and history, I've only a little personal history with Morenci of my very own. I enjoy Morenci due to its safe environment. I'm able to walk outside and not be afraid of some thing happening to me. Walking down my street is no problem. In fact, it is desirable. Everybody knows everybody. It is a friendly town high in friendly people. You walk down the streets and everyone claims, "Hi, how are you doing? How are your parents doing?" It generates me feel good knowing I've that reference to my town. Also, a lot of people in my community know each other so there's always that security. Having friends here is no issue. Most of the people are welcoming and very accepting when newcomers proceed to the region.

    I live in Greenlee County, which includes Clifton, Morenci, and Duncan, which is approximately forty-five minutes from Morenci. This small invest Arizona only has a Dairy Queen, Bashas, Conoco, the Morenci Lanes for bowling, and a theater. Many people consult, "What do you do in such a rural area out at the center of nowhere?" Well, as I stated above, even though we're so little, some things you just don't get or experience in the city with every one of its traffic and accidents. If we increase the Coronado Trail, there are tons of scenery and sight seeing, wild animals, hiking, and hunting. Picnics at Cherry Lodge are a must. Everyone enjoys being up there throughout the winter because the ideal is incredibly beautiful. On most weekends, up-town will be the spot to be.

    Bowling, seeing a movie or just sitting with your pals across the town are our past times. Getting up on the latest news is what generally goes on or going up to somebody's house to "chill" is obviously fun.
    Morenci is a superb invest Arizona. I enjoy living here for the simple fact that it's a safe environment and an enjoyable place to be. The copper mine is increasing every-day and wonderful. Anything about Morenci is great. I have made a few friends, met some amazing folks I will never forget, and have experienced time of my life living in Morenci. Being in a huge city is great yes, but knowing the fun and closeness in a little community is even better. For this reason my hometown of Morenci, Arizona is a pleasant and wonderful destination for a stay, grow, and appreciate.
