Last time we looked at Driven Diesel's power steering fix for GM trucks. In Part 2, we'll get to work on the installation. The easiest way to do the install is to jack up the front of the truck, place it on jack stands and remove the inner fender with a trim panel tool. Before you remove the inner fender, pull it down slightly so you can see the wiring harnesses that are attached to the top of the fender with the same type clips.

One of the trickier aspects of customizing an older vehicle is the need for innovation. Sure, the factory original part worked great when they were engineered decades ago, but time changes things, and new opportunities hit the scene every year. Case in point is the current trend of fitting a larger diameter wheel onto an older series truck.

The front end started with a 1999 Cadillac Escalade front clip that was narrowed to fit the body. Then the front bumper cover was massaged smooth, fitted to blend with the fenders, and a piece of Lexan was molded in to display the license plate.

In Part 3 of Power Steering Fix for GM Diesel Trucks we'll finish up the installation. See Part 1 and Part 2 if you missed them. Now comes the messy part, undoing high-pressure power steering lines. Start with the lines on the steering box, which can be accessed via the inner fender.
