Up until 1971, front disc brakes were only an option on GM trucks because most trucks were still seen as workhorses and relegated to the farm or work site; but converting to a disc brake setup is a must for those looking to build modern, reliable and safe C-10 trucks.

In a recent project, we watched as a Total Cost Involved Pro-Touring IFS was installed. Onto the clip went a complete Wilwood DynaPro 6 big brake front brake kit. The Wilwood brakes are an add-on that can be ordered direct from TCI when you purchase a Pro-Touring clip. We recommend that you do so, as the Wilwood brakes are quality units that are designed to work with the TCI unit.

One of the reasons why C-10 trucks are so popular is thanks to nearly 30 years of similar platforms having many of the same underlying components throughout model year changes. This not only makes a large quantity of parts available but it also makes the platform attractive to aftermarket companies because they can produce a single part number that covers a wide range of years, and as a result, a larger customer base.

The features that make this vehicle provide safety to both the driver and passengers are 4 wheel disc brakes, ABS brakes, Brake assist, Panic alarm, Perimeter/approach lights and Ignition disable.
