      I was expecting something totally different when I clicked on this article. Teaching at a community college, I thought it might be about online behavior on a discussion board assignment or something online and collaborative. Even though it was about something else, I found this tool to be fascinating and thought if I taught in the K-12 system, this would be a great tool.

  • ClassCharts uses html 5 so should run in any modern browser whether it’s a laptop, iPad or Android tablet, so the teacher can use an tablet during the class to instantly update behaviours.
  • This is quite a complex tool and creates a lot of data, so I think it’s going to take a bit of getting used to for teachers and perhaps a bit of training too.

      In my class, this might be a good tool to use for the Participation portion of the class grade, may create an easier way to assess the class in this area.

      I envision the teacher walking around with a tablet and making notes in this program instead of taking notes in a notebook. How far we have come!

      Instead of constantly reinventing the wheel, I love to see what other World Language teachers are doing in their classrooms. This article has some good activities that can easily be converted to any language.

      I really like this VoiceThread "did u know?" about cows.  Any topic can be used to encourage students to present information about the photos.

      I wonder what a good group size would be for most Padlet activities? If it's sort of a social media feed like the one I created for class, I suppose it could be everyone. If it's creating a digital poster, groups of three might work well.

      I don't quite understand this use of Padlet. Why not just use Google Docs? I think Padlet is useful because it allows students to include multimedia.

      I would add that another benefit is how sleek it can look. It's amazing how much design can make a difference in educational activities.

      It seems that Padlet has a Power-Point/Prezi-like option for creating presentations. I'll have to look more into that.
  • I fill those padlets up with a variety of learning materials including photos, YouTube videos, quizzes, worksheets and step-by-step instructions.

      I love the idea of adding videos to Padlet. I haven't tried this yet. So many ideas!

      This assures me that using visual aides helps the students learn a language and that technology can enhance the effective use of visual materials, making it easier to access to the authentic and latest videos and photos.
  • If you’re using new technology, give it a trial run. It’s hard to imagine anything less engaging for students than sitting around waiting while you try to load that video over a poor internet connection or figure out all the glitches with that awesome online game.Do your trial and error ahead of time, before you’re demonstrating media to the class.

      While I agree with this, at some point you need a test group. I always try things out first with a section that I know can take a couple of glitches in stride.

      I wish we had enough time to trial everything in advance! Plus, the issue is something might work when you trial it but not at the right time...

      It seems that this feature regarding definitions is a step above ThinkLink...is this right? I would love to try this tool in conjunction with ThinkLink to see where I can get the most of what I need for my students.
