    Hello everybody!

There a group member who is looking for a career related article that follow a particular person through various phases of their professional like. The New York Times uses this case study format often.

I recall bookmaking a few articles like this but I am unable to locate them. If you happen to know which postings these are, please let me know so I can pass on the information.

In the future, I will add a "case study" tag for these types of articles. I hope you do the same.

    Best regards,

    Hello everybody!

It looks like Diigo has eliminated their discussion boards (I'm not surprised.), so I'll be posting our monthly update using "Topic".

Fist, as always, I would like to welcome our new members. They are:

    Alok Sahu
    Chiwapan Chatsuthipong
    Thomas Sullivan
    Amanpreet Kaur

Please give them a warm Career Development welcome. To become their Diigo "Friends" go to their profiles and click on…. No, wait! That changed to "Follow Me". That's rather Twitterish of them. OK, let's start over, to follow someone's Diigo posts, go to their profiles and click on "Follow Me".

Lastly, November is Career Development month. The National Career Development Association is sponsoring a poetry contest. For more information, go to: http://associationdatabase.com/aws/NCDA/pt/sd/news_article/21351/_self/layout_details/false.

    Happy bookmarking!

    Happy September,

This month I would like to welcome Amanpreet Kaur to our group. To view her profile or become her Diigo friend, go to "members" and click on her name. It's that easy.

This month there are no announcements, but I would like to pose a question to the group. Do you have a success story about someone who has used web2.0/social networking groups like LinkedIn or Facebook to seek employment? I am putting together a workshop on how to use web2.0 as part of a modern job search and I am looking for real testimonials. If you have a story to share, let me know. I would really appreciate it.

To be included in next month's News and Announcements, just send me a message via Diigo.

    Until next time,

Do they same old job search methods still work in an ecomonic downturn? - 20 views

Do they same old job search methods still work in an ecomonic downturn?

Is it just enough to create a resume and submit it anymore? How about now that we are in this global economic crises? Have you notied changes in peoples' job search strategies?
  • Leslie Camacho

    Hi Liz,

    Thank you for your response.

It's true that many people are scared that they will be eliminated from a potential job, when there are so few to be found, because of salary, fringe, or status. As a result they take less than satisfying jobs. But diversifying ones job search, just like a diversified finical portfolio, will result in more satisfying options (yes, that's plural!) even in a down economy. Employment options should suite them realistically in what they are seeking and position them for their next career move. The latter is critic because it can take twice as long to recoup from a less than favorable job once the economy improves.

Look at these bookmarked articles for specific information:

    Hope this helps,
