"Shaping the Way We Teach English is a video-based training product for English language educators. It has 14 modules (topics). The videos showcase classroom scenes from around the world and have an accompanying training manual plus additional readings. "The University of Oregon developed and produced the materials through funding from the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Office of English Language Programs ©2007. All materials are free of charge and copyable for non-commercial educational use."

If you train other teachers, these templates -- free and downloadble as docs -- should help with the task of planning and preparing. Also a free Trainer's Kit is available. Haven't had a chance to try any of them out, so caveat emptor.

This is a teacher training simulation/game that helps recreate the realities of teaching. A European Lifelong Learning Programme project. The trainee contols and avatar that interacts with student avatars in a virtual classroom where a series of situations arise that challenge pedagogical skills. The first example deals with teaching biology.

For adult learners, mainly in the U.S., but also of generally wide application. These teacher training videos use the Whole-Part-Whole approach to teaching literacy.

Here is just one example of some suggestions for using Twitter in your class/presentation: ""Tweet Your Questions! If you are training to a new process or procedure, allow participants the opportunity to tweet any questions they may have, either on the job or during training. What makes this strategy more unique is that instead compiling answers and sending them back via one large email, ensure that there is someone monitoring the twitter account so as to provide near real-time response (even if the response is, "I will look into it")."

This set of videos from TeachingChannel has observation exercises that would be useful for teacher-training, or self-training. There is a note-taking worksheet downloadable in the Supporting Materials, and Questions to Consider as you watch the video. This is a nice exercise, and also includes a Think Aloud activity.

"See the Arts Impact program in action as teachers participate in the summer institute and teach the arts in their classrooms. Hear comments from participating teachers and artist mentors." This is a very nice teacher training video if you are using drama and/or art in the classroom. Great ideas.

Advanced training for Google Earth: Now you have all read Advice For New Members and Placemarks and Overlays (Basic Training), Right? If you haven't, you better! I will know if you try this "Advanced Material" before you study the basics... and some large ugly Troll will be knocking on your back door late at night if you lie to me.

R. Stannard's colleague gives us a screencast of how to use COCA. The training video also explains what a corpus is and how to use one, so this has a far wider application than just for CoCA.

It's suprisingly easy to search for images by type, size, color, and copyright-free. This training video (5 min) by R. Stannard shows you how to do it.
