The Smithsonian Science Education Center provided several videos to help teachers develop science curricula. This site also includes videos about effective teaching strategies to use for science classes and information about science resources to use in the classroom.

This site provides links to interactive science games that are at an appropriate level for high school students or adult learners. Students can use these games to review topics such as the periodic table of elements and anatomy.

The Minnesota Literacy Council provided lesson plans and additional resources that are focused on preparing adult learners for the GED science test. While Iowa does not use the GED test, some of the same skills and content would apply to the HSED test. HSED instructors can modify or use parts of these resources with their students.

The scientific method is a part of almost every HSED practice test for science. This shows that it is important for students to understand and know how to identify the various steps and how they work together in an experiment. HSED students can watch this video to understand the scientific method, and then they can read the article that is immediately following the video. The video is approximately 12 minutes long.

The pictures and short articles could be useful for introducing a new topic or for students to do independent research about scientific topics of their choice.
