I think the approach that we need to consider is how to help students manage their lives (at least their academic ones) with technology. We need to figure out what the parameters are, and then find ways to teach this. A noble and challenging idea since like all of us students are drawn to allure of the digital world. As stated in the article: "If you break off the Internet, so what? They've got 3G on their phones and iPads,'' he said. "Instead, come up with a rule and express it."

If we don't examine this issue then it will end up undermining most of what we try and accomplish.

  • Students cannot, for instance, download movies or visit social networking sites. School tools can also help: A wireless tracking signal once let staff find a “missing” laptop that was simply buried in the student’s own backpack, said seventh-grade Latin teacher Aaron L. Fuller.
