NEA - Brain Breaks - 1 views

  • have read that the brain can only absorb about twenty minutes of information at a time, so I have Brain Breaks in my classes every 20-25 minutes.
  • breaks last anywhere from two to ten minutes.
  • The kids love the breaks and settle back down to work quickly. There are almost no fidgeting or off-task behaviors in my room any more, and my active kids really benefit.
  • ...1 more annotation...
  • Check out the activities in Brain Gym.

40 Ways to Use Google Apps in the Classroom - Google Drive - 1 views

  •
This one is also another good site. Its a presentation about all the different Google programs and what they can be used for in a classroom setting. The cool thing about Google many of the programs are collaborative - for example a student could be working on an assignment he/she can save it on Google drive and we, the teachers can go in and change things right on the spot and they get it back immediately. Go have a look!
  •
Nicole, I liked this site. I like it that as teachers we can go in and see the work they are doing. That way the students can get immediate feedback.
  •
Nicole this one is amazing for homework also, and it offer a help for each student from his/her teacher .

#MysterySkype - Skype in the classroom - 3 views

This would be an amazing website to help students with geography and to learn something new from real people from another country. When I have a classroom I will use this! It would be a great way to spend an hour in your classroom learning something that will stick with them.
  •
Nicole, I am a Language Arts major, and I could see using this site when we discuss background or cultural information on a novel the students are studying. It would be a great way to use technology and also have the students learn about other cultures.
  •
Nicol. I like this website because it is really interesting for kids & helpful. It helps students to learn with fun , and for me it is useful because we have multi cultures in each classroom.

Make Your Own Fairytale - 1 views

  • The Brown University website features a fairytale generator that allows you to select certain folk themes (such as 'villainy,' 'rescue,' 'struggle,' and 'guidance') and folk story presets (such as Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, and Snow White), and the generator produces a unique story.  This concept is based on the theories of Russian scholar Vladimir Propp.
  • This is a fun page that kids will enjoy.  This tool allows you to select certain basic fairytales, like The Gingerbread Man and Little Red Riding Hood, and it prompts you to fill in the blanks of the story with the words of your choosing.  Simply click on your word and drag it into the text of the story.
  •
Teaches kids on how to make fairytales and also what steps you should take.
