A survey released by the Center for Strategic and Competitive Thinking, from the University of Rosario, Bogotá, and the consultancy firm Cepet, says that São Paulo is the best city of Latin America considering opportunities of investments. The study ranked the top ten in the region. São Paulo was highlighted because of the size of its metropolitan area, the volume traded at the exchange Bovespa, and the huge number of multinationals in the region. Santiago (in Chile), which left the first spot from last year, places second, but continues to be very visible to international investors, says the study. Mexico city remained on the third place

Prosecutors in Brazil are demanding $10.6bn (£6.8bn) from US oil company Chevron for environmental damage caused when one of its oil wells leaked off the coast of Rio de Janeiro. The prosecutors also asked the court to immediately suspend the operations of Chevron and its drilling contractor, Transocean, in Brazil. Brazil has already fined Chevron $28m for the spill on 8 November. A Chevron official said the company had not yet been notified of the suit.

Atlanta Field is a post-salt oil field located 185km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro in Block BS-4 of Santos Basin, at a water depth of 1,550m. First production from the field is expected in mid-2016.

The 1,405MWe Angra-3 PWR nuclear reactor project is on again. The Brazilian Government has announced plans to complete the reactor, which will work alongside the other two at Angra, which is between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. The project is estimated to cost $5.6bn and is scheduled for completion in 2018.
