Tweetwaves vs. Seismic Waves | Wired Science | Wired.com - 2 views

  •
If you want an example of what an awesome capstone would look like, here it is. This is work done by a physics professor, trying to figure out how the speed of a tweetwave compares to the speed of a seismic wave, to answer the question did the twitter updates about the earthquake travel faster than the seismic wave itself. You should be able to understand almost everything in here, since it is CVPM.  Obviously, your first attempt at a capstone won't look like this, but it is something to set out as a long term goal.

Virginia earthquake waves ripple across the US! | Bad Astronomy | Discover Magazine - 0 views

This is a great video of showing the propigation of yesterday's earthquake across the US. The deflections these sensors are measuring are 40 micons at the most (0.000040 m). Crazy!  A question-is this wave moving with constant velocity? How could you tell?
