In the 1980s, Nicole P. Stott was a student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach. Last year, however, she got to see Florida from a very different perspective -- from orbit.

All flight training is conducted by certified university flight instructors. Participants in this program must be U.S. citizens ages 14-18.

The Great American Aero Derby (GAAD) is a competition designed to introduce students between the ages of 10 and 18 years to the exciting world of aviation. The competition is split into two categories based upon age. Scholarships and prizes will be awarded to students whose planes remain aloft the longest.

In an efficient and safe effort to save us from the ill-effects of plastic waste, Akinori Ito has developed a machine which converts plastic back into oil. The machine produced in various sizes, for both industrial and home uses, can easily transform a kilogram of plastic waste into a liter of oil, using about 1 kW·h of electricity but without emitting CO2 in the process. The machine uses a temperature controlling electric heater instead of flames, processing anything from polyethylene or polystyrene to polypropylene (numbers 2-4). Comment: 1 kg of plastic produces one liter of oil, which costs $1.50. This process uses only about 1 kW·h of electricity, which costs less than 20 cents!

In this activity students will be able to view the different ways water travels and the different forms in which water can be found. The experiment focuses mainly on evaporation, transpiration, condensation and precipitation

The blind spot is the area on the retina without receptors that respond to light. Therefore, an image that falls on this region will NOT be seen. It is in this region that the optic nerve exits the eye on its way to the brain. Students will determine their blind spot by shifting the blind spot tester within their range of vision. Students will also learn the function of the parts of the eyeball, as well as the role the eyeball plays in the nervous system.

This activity will allow students to create their own cloud. They will also learn different aspects of the water cycle and how a cloud is actually created in the atmosphere.

The student will have an opportunity to learn about the Properties of Gas,and Laws of Conservation, they will also visually see both biological principles hands on. The students will pose a hypothesis and use the scientific method to interpret their hypothesis.
