Denman is one of about 80 students in Southwest Learning Centers' aviation program, which allows students to gain flight experience and eventually become licensed pilots. there is an effort to show the human aspects of engineering such as creativity and finding solutions to issues related to energy and the environment. The university has several programs aimed at reaching younger girls, including after-school aerospace and robotics clubs at about eight area elementary and middle schools. A couple of the clubs are all-female.

Robotics program examines the expanding role of robotics in the exploration of space. Students will engage in activities before and after the videoconference, initially constructing simple machines, and then progressing to more complex devices.
