National Museum of the USAF - Virtual Tour - 0 views

  •
"This tour provides users with an all-hours access pass to explore the museum," said Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Charles Metcalf, museum director. When completed, the virtual tour will include 92 high-definition panoramic "nodes." Each node consists of 307 photographs stitched together. In each node, aircraft and artifacts are hyperlinked to fact sheets, supplemental information and educational tools. "Museum exhibition design is a medium that has historically benefited from advances in technology," said John Luchin, a museum exhibit designer. "This virtual tour is the perfect way to maintain a connection with visitors long after they have left the museum galleries."

State of Washington to Offer Online Materials, Instead of Textbooks, for 2-Year Colleges - 0 views

  •
"The basic design requirements of the Open Course Library are simple enough. The material must be available online and accessible to anyone, says Mr. Green. Faculty designers, hired for their teaching experience and expertise in the subject, can use material from anywhere and anyone, as long as they abide by licensing agreements. Instructors can then use and revise the material as they see fit, dropping and adding components to customize the course for their own students. And now they have peer-vetted syllabi, lecture notes, and teaching materials, available with a few clicks of the mouse."

Welcome to the Mathematics Assessment Project - 0 views

  •
" to design and develop well-engineered assessment tools to support US schools in implementing the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSS). Tools for formative and summative assessment that make knowledge and reasoning visible, and help teachers to guide students in how to improve, and monitor their progress. These tools comprise: * Lesson Units for Formative Assessment: some focused on math concepts, others on non-routine problem solving - 20 per grade for Grades 7-12. * Professional Development Modules: to help teachers with the new pedagogical challenges that formative assessment presents. * Summative Assessment Task Collection: to illustrate the range of performance goals required by CCSS. * Prototype Summative Tests: designed to help teachers and students monitor their progress, these tests provide a model for examinations that may replace or complement current US tests."

Team Note-Taker wins U.S. Imagine Cup 2011 - 0 views

  •
"Team Note-Taker took first place in the Software Design category with a technology inspired by team member Hayden who is legally blind and had trouble keeping up with note-taking in black-board intensive math classes. The team's solution helps low-vision students take efficient and effective notes with the help of a custom-designed, portable camera, a touch-screen Tablet PC and Microsoft OneNote. The solution allows students to view live video and simultaneously take typed or hand-written notes on a split-screen interface."

Real World Design Challenge - 1 views

  •
"The Real World Design Challenge (RWDC) is an annual competition that provides high school students, grades 9-12, the opportunity to work on real world engineering challenges in a team environment. Each year, student teams will be asked to address a challenge that confronts our nation's leading industries. Students will utilize professional engineering software to develop their solutions and will also generate presentations that convincingly demonstrate the value of their solutions. The RWDC provides students with opportunities to apply the lessons of the classroom to the technical problems that are being faced in the workplace."

How Laser Cutting Machines are Made - Core77 - 0 views

  •
"A "How it's made" video showing how they make something that makes other things. Specifically, a laser cutting machine. The coolest thing we didn't know before seeing the video is that a laser beam must be the appropriate shape in order to cut optimally, just like a router bit or a kitchen knife designed for a specific task.
