When current events happen, where do you learn about them? One way to expand our/our students' understanding of the world is to choose news sources from around the world that ascribe to the principles of ethical journalism. This channel is offers indigenous perspectives on the news of the day.

How do we contextualize this for learners today? If this primary source is accurate, how can they understand that a government agency was actively unsupportive of MLK? If a government agency was against MLK in 1964, what might a government agency might not be supportive of today that will be similarly shocking to us in forty years?

I stumbled across this site when I was looking for different primary source documents and lesson. I thought it was extraordinary! I haven't played around TOO much with it yet, but from what I can tell when you get into it, and look at a document/photo, it creates a web to related topics in a nice little interface, making searching for them easy peasy (like I said from what I can tell so far). I was impressed with it. =) From the site: Exploring the Digital Vaults is easy. You can browse through the hundreds of photographs, documents, and film clips and discover the connection between some of the National Archives' most treasured records. To use the media rich version of this site you will need to download the Adobe Flash 9 player.

A very good and credible media source that tells the tale of how women across the country took charge and led. Also a very accurate deconstruction of the myth behind the character.

There is a ton of info on the records of Japanese-Americans on this cite. Just the map of the locations of the 10 camps is worth a trip to this source.
