Science across the IB continuum - 0 views

  •
Science provides an essential contribution to life both within IB World Schools and in society at large. It is a required component in all three IB programmes and is addressed in a developmentally appropriate way within each. This publication focuses on teaching and learning science across the continuum of IB programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP). It highlights the alignment and the differences that exist within and between the three IB programmes. The appendices focus on MYP and DP science through a comparison of science aims and assessment in these two programmes. A diagram is included that may be used to prompt discussions about the teaching and learning of science across all three programmes in IB World Schools. The contents of this publication will be of interest to all teachers, curriculum developers and school leaders involved in teaching and learning science throughout the school. Schools are encouraged to consider how teaching and learning science within and across IB programmes is aligned and articulated in their school community.Note: This document is a synthesis of information from existing programme documents and should be used as a companion to the more detailed information in those documents.

Home : Science Foo Camp - 0 views

  •
Nature is delighted to be collaborating again with Google and O'Reilly Media to organise the sixth annual Science Foo Camp (SciFoo). About 200 leading scientists, technologists, writers and other thought-leaders will gather once more at the Googleplex for a weekend of unbridled discussion, demonstration and debate. Foo Camp is an informal conference format pioneered by O'Reilly Media, a leading book publisher and event organiser in the field of information technology. There is no predefined agenda, instead attendees collaboratively create one from start to finish the first evening, with little if any boundaries to what can be discussed. Since the first O'Reilly Foo Camp in 2003, these events have become legendary and much imitated, leading to the first Science Foo Camp in the summer of 2006.

DIYbio | An Institution for the Amateur Biologist - 0 views

  •
DIYbio.org is an organization dedicated to making biology an accessible pursuit for citizen scientists, amateur biologists and biological engineers who value openness and safety. This will require mechanisms for amateurs to increase their knowledge and skills, access to a community of experts, the development of a code of ethics, responsible oversight, and leadership on issues that are unique to doing biology outside of traditional professional settings.
