Breast cancer is known as global epidemic as it is affecting a large number of women each year in every corner of the world so all women are strongly recommended to perform regular breast examination so that this dreadful disease can be detected early because earlier detection ensures higher survival chances. Breast examination is strongly recommended to women of all ages so that they can catch the abnormal breast changes as they take place because these abnormal breast changes can lead to the advance stage breast cancer.

Women are recommended to perform regular self breast exam once in a month so that she can learn about her breasts in detail as breasts structure is intricate and it takes time to get adequate knowledge about it.

Breast cancer risk is life time and it is for women of all ages, however intensity of the risk fluctuates with the age as the risk increases as women age and especially when enter 40 the risk becomes higher. Younger women can also be affected by this life threatening ailment, but the chances are lower comparatively but women should start learning about their breasts as they enter 20 because women are never too young to be affected by this cancer.

You must have heard about the importance of screening in women life as older women are advised to get their breast screened for detection of abnormal changes at initial stage. As screening is the only useful method for this purpose, but it is not useful for women of all ages due to certain reasons such as it can give false positives in younger women and the exposure to radiation in young age can be harmful, although only low dosage of X-ray is used to screen breasts.
