Tools for the TEKS: Integrating Technology in the Classroom - 0 views

  • One of the most basic and powerful ways to increase student motivation to write and communicate is to change student perceptions of audience. Some students are motivated to write to please their teacher and earn a high grade, but that is not the case for everyone. Instead of asking students to write exclusively for an audience of one (the teacher) using technology from the mid 1500s (a pencil,) teachers can now challenge students to publish for a global listening audience via a classroom podcast. This article provides an overview of the benefits of classroom podcasting and showcases several exemplary classroom podcasts teachers and students can use as models when creating their own.

SmartBoard, Make Way for Educreations | MindShift - 0 views

  •
Educreations is one of the top contenders, teachers say, mostly because of its simple user interface and multi-functionality. "I use it when I need to make quick videos in class," said Ramsey Musallam, a high school chemistry teacher in San Francisco. Other features that teachers seem to love: the app offers more than one page for recording; the user can import images from other places and format them easily within the video; there's a text feature so students don't have to contend with messy teacher handwriting, and perhaps best of all, it can be used on desktop computers, not just an iPad.

Free Technology for Teachers: Video Projects and Common Core Standards - 0 views

  •
Last week I ran two workshops on video creation in the classroom. A part of that workshop was a discussion of Common Core standards that can be addressed through video creation projects. I've pulled out some of the standards that I think a video creation project can address. The standards that I chose all came from the Language Arts standards. I would love to hear from mathematics teachers who have ideas about Common Core standards that can be addressed through video creation projects.

Flipped Learning Explained Visually ~ Educational Technology and Mobile Learning - 0 views

  •
Does flipped learning mark a transformational change in the way instruction is delivered or is it just a mere replacement of teacher with digital media? This is one of the questions that has created  a lot of controversy among educators. I have read several articles on this topic and have found a huge abyss between how teachers view it. However, flipped learning or not, the use of technology in education should be elevated to the rank of " integration" and so instead of speaking of using technology in teaching which is but doing the same things via the medium of technology, we rather talk about technology integration which is more structured and systematic.

We were going to use the app as a writing station this year ... but with our new filtering system the app doesn't seem to work very well with the embedded videos. #saddayformobilelearning Works OK with the webpage ... kiddos just can't see the videos when logged in as a student. As teachers we CAN get in to YouTube or Vimeo.

YouTube has a firm place in the current classroom. From Khan Academy's videos to YouTube EDU and beyond, there's a reason all these videos are finding a home in schools.
