notice this teacher purposely limits the number of classes she is connecting with in order to develop more authentic relationships between classes/students.
  • We do not follow my children’s parents or educators I admire.

note this.. parents can follow you..but if you follow them you will see all of their tweets...professional...and more importantly, personal ones. There is no real reason to follow them if they want to talk back to you they can by tweeting directly to your class.

I can imagine the inappropriate things that you might end up with if parents were followed!

This creates a more thoughtful approach to tweeting because of the modeling they see in the tweets you choose to have them follow.

That is a great point. Even in the higher grades, for those already using twitter, we do need to display how to use this in an educational way.

We are working on adding details to our writing. I love this idea. I agree that this would be a great motivator for students and I am excited to try this.

This is a great way to show parents what is going on in the classroom. This is a big deal in high school because parents feel disconnected at this level.

Some good and some bad. Follow those who are credible and useful toward your content.
  • If you are on Twitter yourself, occasionally retweet good content from your classroom to let other teachers know you have a class account.
