GoGirl Partners with Hopkins Elks to Send 250 GoGirl Devices to Troops in Southwest Asia MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Long days in the field with little alone time is something that female troops stationed overseas know well. They also know that it's nearly impossible to find a private, sanitary restroom while on the job. To empower female military members with on-the-go bathroom convenience, GoGirl by FemMed Inc. has teamed up with the Hopkins Elks Lodge in Hopkins, Minn., to donate 250 GoGirl devices to troops stationed in Southwest Asia. "The female military members protecting our country overseas often are in situations where there isn't a real restroom for miles. Though not openly recognized as an issue, it truly is an inconvenience," said Sarah Dillon, president of GoGirl. "Working with the Hopkins Elks, we saw an opportunity to empower these women with restroom freedom and flexibility through GoGirl, and realized that donating 250 devices was the least that we could do to make their lives easier."

"The students of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic School, Two Rivers, made hundreds of Christmas cards for the Two Rivers Elks Lodge 1380 to send to active duty military members. The cards will be shared with the crew of the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower and an Army unit, according to a news release from the Elks."

n the early days of the Iraq War, much attention was paid to volunteers on the home front who were assembling care packages to send to the troops overseas. Now that the war has entered its seventh year, those activities are still going strong, but with less fanfare. One organization that that was started in 2007, "Cards for Heroes," has spread across the land and to Los Gatos, where a group of women volunteer to make cards at the Elks Lodge.

PORTSMOUTH - The Portsmouth Elks Lodge on Jones Avenue looked like something out of a scene from "Grease" on Saturday when dozens of Seacoast residents came together to dance for a good cause. Marga Coulp - the owner of Classic Cutters Hair Salon - organized a "Sock Hop Charity Dance" with the hopes of raising $5,000 to benefit the Pease Greeters and other organization supporting United States troops.

Alley-White American Legion Post 52 and its Auxiliary Unit 52 have partnered with members of Mountain Home Elks Lodge 1714 to enhance each organization's ongoing commitment to send care packages to deployed servicemen and servicewomen. Advertisement Since joining forces last fall, the groups have shipped an average of 10-12 large flat-rate boxes per month to armed forces personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan.
