Reminiscent of the days before television and the Internet when live shows were the rage, a good old-fashioned burlesque show was staged in the Elks ballroom. The 12 "performers," all members of Long Beach Elks Lodge No. 1937, had the chance to show off their feminine side to the delight of a packed house. The event was the brainchild of past Lecturing Knight Natalie Hanson, who has owned an ad agency and a production company. Costuming proved to be Natalie's largest hurdle as most of the performers are not exactly sized for the runway. The evening began at 6 p.m. with a delicious ham dinner served to all. Ham was chosen

neat PR on the Elks in Pasadena. Shame they focused only on charity works. It is supposed to be a fraternal organization.

Wow! 1200 people attended. Funds raised FOR the LODGE. They have there priorities straight. Lodge first, charity second.

The South Hills Elks new membership drive is off to a stupendous start! The Elks welcomed and installed 18 new Elks on Tuesday night May 12 at the Lodge. The New Elks were instructed on our virtues, bylaws and our Charity mission. The South Hills Elks is dedicated to assisting the youth of the South Hills along with the Veterans of the Pittsburgh area.

SUMMIT -- The local Elks Club is enjoying a resurgence in membership, and Exalted Ruler Mike Williams is fairly sure he knows why. "It's the charitable works we do," he said, "and the comradeship we have here, both social and charitable." Members of the lodge, headquartered on the second floor of a downtown Maple Street building, abide by four principals: justice, charity, brotherhood and fidelity.
