It's no wonder the elks have lost so many members in Ca. These lodges are pricing the dues to cover the cost of running their facilities. In years past the elks were noted for "None but the best, rich or poor". Well, the poor, those uninterested in the lodge facilities or on fixed incomes are not going to join the Elks. There are plenty of organizations around that one can do good with and NOT subsidize someone elses playground.

Smoke to clear at Elks Lodge By Paul Leighton Staff writer BEVERLY - As Arthur Denault lined up a shot at the pool table yesterday afternoon, he took a puff on his ubiquitous pipe. It's a scene that has played out for decades inside the Beverly-Salem Elks Lodge, where the 89-year-old Denault has been a member for 29 years. It's also a scene that's about to end - at least the part including Denault's pipe.

At the recent Elks Convention in Ontario, Gerald Babinski, Exalted Ruler of Lake Elsinore Elks Lodge #2591, donated a check in the amount of $15,669.86 to the Elks Major Project from funds raised by lodge members.

"This past weekend we had people stopping and taking pictures of it," said Joel Macrander, exalted ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 2425.

PAW PAW - The Paw Paw Elks Lodge 2511 will hold a free youth archery shoot, Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the lodge, 41816 N. M-40. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Bows and targets will be provided. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., an all-you-can-eat wild game luncheon will be served.

The Dover Elks Lodge will be hosting a series of special events to honor the youth of our community. The Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks (B.P.O.E.) is a national organization committed to recognizing the accomplishments of our young people. This year the Lodge will be awarding over $16,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors in the area.

Six truckloads of sand was dumped in the Elks Lodge parking lot Friday afternoon. The sand was being trucked in by Morgan Sand and Gravel and spread around on the parking lot to create two courts in prepration for today's Dog Days of Summer Sand Volleyball Tournament at the Elks Lodge.

This year marks the 51st anniversary of the Elks Lodge in Morden. Morden Elks Lodge is a fraternal organization that raises funds to support local community and children's needs along with supporting the Elks of Canada Purple Cross Fund. This fund is accessible locally to help out children in need of medical care where additional funding is required. While most fraternal organizations are struggling to find new members, the Morden Elks are fortunate to have had a large number of young men - 28 in total - join the organization in the past few years.
