?? this is bizarre.. They made ENF goal every year for the last 3 years. 3rd largest lodge in WV out of 21. 626 members as of 4/1/13. FB page does appear to have been neglected with few recent postings.

another GL failure

good news that something is being preserved from McCook. The bad news is that it lost it's charter. This was one hell of a lodge in it's day. The fact is that the GL is mostly responsible for the demise of this lodge and the dramatic loss of membership. nebraska is down 77% from 1985. and that was as of 2014. Down to 7,000 from 32,000. HUGE drop that can only be attributed to leadership (or lack of).

I figured it wouldn't be long before some of the long time members would express their concern.

It's surprising that the GL would force them to obtain this many more new members. Hell, there are a dozen lodges in NC that have under a 100 members. Going to force them to increase too?

What did GL expect by taking away this old lodge's building? Sometimes I wonder why I belong to an organization that exhibits such ineptitude!!

What a tragedy as there are no winners here. Losing this lodge is a tremendous loss for the Elks and gives the Order quite a public black eye. Hopefully the remaining members of the Austin lodge can keep the facility. Even if they do win in court though it will be quite a struggle to regain the former membership, become financially stable and remain a viable non-profit for the long term. I wish them the best of luck. They will need it.

"Mike Klotzbach and Mike Corona showed up at the Batavia Elks Lodge #950 today, they said, for a sense of closure. Klotzbach had been involved with the lodge for more than a decade and Corona for nearly 15 years."

Hard to believe how well this former Elks lodge is doing. GL really screwed up to lose this one.

They will need it.} It is more than likely that they have struggled, they haven't given up, and in my opinion have shown all of us what a determined membership can accomplish. Kudos to former Austin lodge, now The High Road on Dawson.

Tragic

Hate to see that but quite a small lodge it appears. An area view from google maps shows an isolated building in a small town. No pool or other amenities.
