    The marching band has ordered a banner with its logo. The logo is a circle with a 45 central angle. If the diameter of the circle is 3ft, what is the length of the major arc to the nearest tenth?

    I'm not suree... but

    45 degrees / 360 x 3ft x 3.14
    45 degrees / 360 x 36in x 3.14
    45 degrees / 360 x 113.04
    0.125 x 113.04 = 14.13
    = 14.1inches
    = 1.175
    about = 1.2 feet.

    Circumference - Minor Arc = Major Arc

    Minor Arc
    = 45/360 x 3(3.14)
    = 1/8 x 9.42
    = 1.1775

    Circumference
    = 3(3.13)
    = 9.42

    Major Arc
    = 9.42 - 1.1775
    = 8.2425
