I think the pumping blood throughout the body will be much harder since the arteries are more narrow. If the water leaks out of the bottle itself, it might ruin the whole purpose of the experiment because the red water will flow both out of the straw and the bottle. I think the straws will have a big difference in flow rate since the size of the straws are dynamic.
I think when a blood vessel gets clogged, the blood flow will be overflown around the clogged part and the vessel will pop because of the pressure given off from the overflowing blood. I think the straws will have a different flow rates because the the bigger straw will allow it to flow much more faster and more efficiently, while the small straw will come out slower than the blood upcoming so the blood will overflow.
7. Water flows out in different times. This is because the size of the straw is different. The bigger the diameter of the straw, more water flows out. This tells us that bigger the size of our blood veins are, more blood will be able to pass through. 8. People with Coronary disease with have trouble with blood flow. This is because coronary disease will make the diameter of the arteries smaller making blood harder to flow. Therefore, they will also have higher blood pressure.
Disease Myocardial infarction or heart attack.... is a well known disease of the heart. It is the blockage of one of the arteries in the Heart itself. Because of this many tissues will die and depending on how much of your tissues die, in the worst case you may die.
When someone's artery walls start to get thicker, not enough blood would be able to flow through artery and it blocks the circulation of blood.
1. Why do you not want water to leak out the holes? How might that change your experiment?
If the water leaks out of the holes, it literally means the water is going out of the artery and flows around in an irregular directions or ways. It ruins the circulation of water, which it ruins the whole project
2. Do you think straws will have the same or different flow rates? Why?
It will have different flow rates because the material of straw is different to the artery and its parts are totally different, which it possibly affects the flow rates either.
Hypertension: Abnormally high blood pressure. The higher the blood pressure, the harder the heart has to pump blood. So hypertension can cause heart failure or heart attacks. This may also lead to damaged organs and also severe illness such as kidney failure. The normal blood pressure should be under 120/80 and between this and 140/90 is risk of hypertension and anything higher than 140/90 is considered to be hypertension. Essential Hypertension is the term for getting hypertension from an unknown cause. Hypertension is most of the times caused by an unknown cause but is sometimes associated with these;
1). Smoking 2). Obesity and being Overweight 3). Diabetes 4). Lack of Physical Activity 5). High Level of Salt Intake 6). Lack of Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium Consumption 7). Stress and Aging
Symptoms:
1). Severe Headaches 2). Fatigue 3). Dizziness and Nausea 4). Chest Pains 5). Vision Problems 6). Blood in Urine 7). Irregular Heartbeat
7. Flow rate of a straw with a larger diameter is different then a straw with a smaller diameter. I think the straw with a larger diameter will have a higher flow rate because there will be more space for the water to go through.
8. I think people who have coronary heart disease will have a lower heart rate because less blood vessels will be able to go through the person with the coronary heart disease's arteries since less stuff can go through a smaller things. It'll be the same for this disease.
1) arteriosclerosis - when fatty deposits in the arteries causes the walls to stiffen and thicken the walls. The causes are too much fat, cholesterol and calcium. This can restrict blood flow or in severe cases stop it all together, resulting in a heart attack or stroke.
2) hypertension - Un-medically known as high blood pressure and causes the heart to work harder and can lead to such complications as a heart attack, a stroke, or kidney failure.
3) aortic aneurysm - when the aorta is damaged and starts to bulge or eventually tear, which causes severe internal bleeding. This weakness can be present at birth or the result of atherosclerosis, obesity, high blood pressure or a combination of these conditions.
4) rheumatic fever - attack the valves that control the flow of blood through the heart. Incomplete development of the heart or blood vessels before birth may result in defects known as congenital heart disorders.
8. People with Coronary disease with have trouble with blood flow. This is because coronary disease will make the diameter of the arteries smaller making blood harder to flow. Therefore, they will also have higher blood pressure.
