Creating an Interactive Classroom -- THE Journal - 0 views

  •
The frustrating part of finding out how someone else did it right is in realizing that one prescriptive approach doesn't always work for everyone.  That said, it would make many people feel comfortable to see a template of how someone did it, and take liberties when needed.

  • Each student is responsible in the last analysis for his or her own education. The best education demands a joint search for learning by exciting teachers and able students. Students’ progress should be based on demonstrated competence and real mastery rather than on the accumulation of credits and grades. Students should have from the outset opportunities to explore areas of deep interest to them.

Of course, this is to allow students to be a part of their own lesson.  This way, they can internalize their own understanding of what they should demonstrate.  This should, I see, be done before the project begins.  The students need to be aware of what they should do first.  I wonder how this would look though.  Would it be like a parliamentary debate?
