As Jesus sent His disciples out into a world that would be hostile to them, that would imprison them and beat them and kill them, what they needed to succeed wasn't a new car, or perfect teeth or a retirement plan. What they needed to live successfully (as God defines it) was The Comforter. 

During that week before I had confessed to my dad that I had indeed lied to him, he did not throw me out of his house; he didn't disown me or write me out of his will! I was STILL his child, but our fellowship was broken.

Heavenly Father, remind us each day that, of all the gifts you give us, the greatest gift is love… And help us to be slow to judge and quick to forgive, ready to share your patience, empathy and love.

And there in a cave, in a cradle of hay,Our Savior was born on that first Christmas Day!The Father was watching in heaven above,He sent for His angels, His couriers of love.

We can't understand how God decides the day of our death. We don't know when our own finish line will come. But we should all live in such a way that when we come to the finish line of our life there will be no unfinished business, no works our Father assigned to us that we've left undone.

The story of the shepherd seeking his lost sheep became very, very real to me that night, and I'm not ashamed to admit that those stupid lost hens brought me to tears of humility. Do we not do the same to our Heavenly Father? He shows us green fields, and we race back to the emptiness of what's familiar… even those with years of experience in walking with God, we can be caught unawares. All of us, at some time or another, stray away from God's best, and need the Shepherd to come find us. 

The children of God live in the Kingdom of God, therefore, no tax in any kingdom of man can stop/hinder the work of a child of God going about their Father's business in the Kingdom of God. God the Father had already provided for our earthly needs, so no earthly tax/demand/situation can stop you or me from doing the work of God here on earth.

From the beginning of time God has wanted the heart of mankind. He wants us to call on Him and come to Him in prayer, to seek His will, and trust Him in all things. When we do, He is always available to us, longing for all to look to Him and live. His arms are always open to any who will turn to Him. He is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
