A new submission form? - 5 views

I think our approach to gathering links could be two pronged. People who are very interested in this carnival (or hosting) and who want to collect links on a regular basis can work through Diigo, as was discussed in the email exchange yesterday.

But if I were new to Berry Go Round or just wanted to submit a link every once in awhile, I wouldn't necessarily want to join Diigo to submit a link. Being able to email the host gets around that, but I think a submission form works better.

I was thinking we could revamp the main BGR website (http://berrygoround.wordpress.com/) and include a submission form there? And maybe a host volunteer form, too?

There are definitely options for building forms into a wordpress blog that are easy to implement and have decent spam protection (http://www.codestuff.com/2009/07/16/153/wordpress-contact-form-7-plugin-great-for-forms.html). Of course, the BGR blog is a wordpress.com blog and I'm not as familiar with the options and flexibility of that as I am with self-hosted wordpress blogs - perhaps it isn't actually possible. Anyone know?

    Sarcozona,

Revamping the BGR website is a neat suggestion. Unfortunately, you cannot use plug-ins at the wordpress.com site, so using that site to create a form for carnival submissions is out. But there may be some other creative way to make submissions possible. Maybe simply through "comments" on a dedicated page. The link to the current page that talks about hosting and submitting is buried way down in the left hand column under the list of past and future berries. Perhaps that list could be cleaned up, but the theme design does not make links to pages really obvious or visible.

Perhaps it's worth considering a new wordpress theme? Maybe that would be a fun job for a volunteer.
