We discussed the idea of energy vampires in class today.

The problem:
Convince people to unplug things, turn lights off.
The solution:
Simplicity, strong imagery, distinct colors, easily understood information

It's important to be as descriptive as you possibly can when you tag your bookmarks.
I suggest using your first name as a tag and your class prefix as a tag e.g., AR219. This way it will be very easy to sort through what others have contributed on an individual basis and the things that may be pertinent to each class.
In addition, think about adding project names.

Hello Everyone -
This is the first arm of a set of online resources I'm developing for Blackburn art classes.
What it is:
Diigo is social bookmarking. For example, I can find a painting by Picasso on the internet and bookmark it and add that bookmark to our site. I can also add a sticky note on that site that wiil be viewable by anyone else in the group. That sticky note can be a comment about Picasso's use of color or line or even a link to an article about that particular work of art elsewhere on the internet. Not only that, you, too can add your own sticky note on that page. You can leave a comment about that page in the bookmark listing in the group - or - you can start a discussion about that page in the group.
How to do it:
The best way to get the most out of this site is to be using the latest version of Firefox and install the Diigo toolbar. Once you do that - you can bookmark a site from the toolbar, add your tags or comment and save it to the group.
Facebook and Twitter:
Diigo plays very well with both Facebook and Twitter. Once you link your accounts you can bookmark to our group (and your account if you decide to make your own Diigo account) and you can post the link to you Facebook profile. You can also send the link to individual people on Facebook.
Stipulations:
All I ask is that everything you add to this site be somehow related to art and that can mean art history, drawing, graphic design, photography, painting or sculpture. So far, I'm adding students from both Graphic Design classes and Drawing. More may be added at a later date. I just want to be clear that this does not need to be design-centric or drawing-centric.
Tags:
The key to all of this is learning to be very detailed with your tags. Whenever you bookmark a site add descriptive words about what is on that site. Everything should at least be clearly marked as to what category of art it involves like: painting, drawing, design, etc. Also - if there are any artist names those should go into the tag.
Thanks.
