I always like Albert Einstein's comment that science without religion is blind, and religion without science is lame. Perhaps one could extend the formulation to this question: Religion without spirituality is like a body without spirit, a dried flower, an empty glass. Spirituality without religion is like a disembodied spirit, unable to make a lasting difference in the material realm, or water without a glass or a channel to make it of any practical use. Religion is like the electrical circuit. Useless, without without connection to source of energy. Spirituality the electricity - the mysterious power, that brings light and energy best when it is directed through proper channels.
