The aim of the LoVEUS (Location aware Visually Enhanced Ubiquitous Services) project is to provide European citizens with ubiquitous services for personalised, tourism-oriented multimedia information related to the location and orientation within cultural sites or urban settings, occasionally enriched with relevant advertisements.

The MEMORY WALK walk makes visible the way people travel through the city by recording pedestrians’ steps across a space. Every time a footstep falls on a digital paver, the paver emits an additional increment of light. As people cross the pavement, paths of light are illuminated where people tread the most; untread areas emit no light. Thus, people become aware of the traces their movements leave upon the surfaces of the Digital Mile.

Plundr is a location-based game of piracy and trading on the high seas created by area/code. Start out as a bilge-spewing land-lubber in a leaky tub, search the ocean for unsuspecting ships to pillage, upgrade your ship, and amass a fortune in black market goods.

GoCars are easy and fun to drive. They're guided by GPS (Global Positioning System) – which means that the car always knows where you are, even if you don't. As you drive, it tells you where to turn and what you're passing, and it waits patiently if you want to stop. As soon as you turn your GoCar back on, the tour picks up where it left off.

The trolleys have been wired up with GPS receivers which constantly pass location information to the PDAs. The PDAs then check their databases for location information and play the appropriate audio over the trolleys’ PA systems. Drivers are not required to interface with the system at all, and the historical tour plays automatically.

Travel by GPS™ tour guides are self-guided, GPS-enabled sightseeing adventures that include media rich audio narration and visual representation.

Travel by GPS tour guide content complies with Garmin® TourGuide™ standards, is provided in Garmin GPI file format and can be used with compatible GPS navigation units. Other file formats are available by request.
