Not everything in the sky looks like a luminous point is a star. The astronomers had found out when they saw some objects that should be in accordance with the previous view within the Milky Way. The greater was the surprise when the supposed star turned out to be compact galaxies.
"It's a little embarrassing that they are so close and we suspected nothing of it," admits Michael of the University of New South Wales. In his estimation, hundreds of thousands of such galaxies could be found in the vicinity.
