Facebook is trying to turn its social network into a place where it will be the only site on the web they will need to visit. Soon you will be able to instead of liking a movie you will be able to watch a movie and instead of liking a song you will be able to listen to it. Big things happening to FB.
A broadband bill sent to a deceased man, which included a fine for late payment, has been shared more than 53,000 times by Facebook users. Social media experts say it is a reminder of the importance of responding quickly and publicly to complaints made on social networks.
The headlines were unequivocal - Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg had announced that email is dead. The truth however was a little more prosaic. At the launch of the social network's new messaging platform, he had said "we don't think a modern messaging system is going to be email", and that the new system was "not email".
When I teach GoogleMail to year 7s, it's really obvious that the only reason they use email is to allow them to sign up to online accounts for games and stuff. And I reckon that 90% of UCTC year 7s have a Facebook account. Is that "normal" or "worrying"?
It amazes that 5% of users create 75% of the drivel that is on the site, I can't help but feel that the world would be a much better place without them.
My problem with twitter and all other forms of social networking, but mostly twitter, is the amount of rubbish posted on it. People become obsessed with posting all they are doing. It leads people to online stalking. I would love to shut twitter down, just for a week to make people realize that they don't need to know what people are doing at all times of the day, if it is that important it will be on the news.
