Queria decir que es un buen comienzo para ir aprendiendo la epoca que se viene, que es probablemente el declinar (el fin?) de la virtualiacion basada en VMs. Aunque el autor confiese que las conclusiones no pueden emparentarse con la ciencia.
"A bunch of techies working in IBM's systems lab in Austin, Texas ginned up a bunch of benchmark tests to show how both KVM and Docker stacked up against bare metal iron running Linux."
"Since earlier this year, the Performance Engineering Group at Red Hat has run huge amounts of microbenchmarks, benchmarks and application workloads in Docker containers."
"In October 2014, Databricks participated in the Sort Benchmark and set a new world record for sorting 100 terabytes (TB) of data, or 1 trillion 100-byte records. The team used Apache Spark on 207 EC2 virtual machines and sorted 100 TB of data in 23 minutes."
ScalaMeter is a microbenchmarking and performance regression testing framework for the JVM platform that allows expressing performance tests in a way which is both simple and concise.
It can be used both from Scala and Java.
write performance tests in a DSL similar to ScalaTest and ScalaCheck
specify test input data
specify how test results are collected
organize performance tests hierarchically
