In our East Berlin article of Colonial Days, we show a picture of a man using a shaving horse to trim cedar shakes. We also show the use of a shaving horse in our cooper article. Jack the Cooper came up with his own plans to build the shaving horse he uses. There are two traditional styles of shaving horses, the English bodgeris bench and the Continental schnitzelbank or dumbhead. There is pictorial evidence of the dumbhead being used in the 15th and 16th centuries, although the English style does not show up until the late 19th century.

Building information modeling is only as good as the information that is fed into it. While using BIM for cost estimation, it is solely an estimator's responsibility to develop information database that is useful for estimation. Cost estimation, i.e. the 5Th dimension of BIM, constitutes of multiple layers of activities, including cost planning, quantity extraction, and verification of - MEP, structural and rebar fabrication models and visualization of series of activities with corresponding accrued costs and verifying the same.

With developments in technology which support BIM workflows better than before, there are examples of ground-breaking projects in construction and infrastructure which have optimized energy use using efficient and reliable energy analyses using real building data - the most remarkable in recent times is the Shanghai Tower.
