Additionally, under the teaching materials section, there are several downloadable pdf's that are great for sponge activities. One of those is a packet of songs and song lyrics that can be used in a language classroom and the other is a packet of illustrated "password" posters with key phrases for the classroom.

This website provides access to a comic a day from the famous Chilean comic el Condorito. In addition, there are jokes and other resources provided by the author. This would be a great thing to use in a language classroom for sponge activities.

(Kendra Montiel) This site has tons of easy, authentic recipes in Spanish. They are sorted according to category and each one has a picture of the final product. Using recipes to prepare food is a great way to review food vocabulary and the imperative form.

The entire site is in Spanish, but most of the movies come from the United States, so the students would be familiar with them and able to recognize the movie even though the title is in Spanish. Students would enjoy working on assignments to choose a movie based on the synopsis given, the location it's playing at, the time, and the rating.

The list gives the word in English, the word in Spanish, and then the test message abbreviation. What a great way to get students excited about learning Spanish by giving them an assignment to text each other in Spanish using authentic abbreviations.

The flyer has ads for groceries, clothing, appliances, toys, household items, etc. This flyer could be utilized for many classroom activities to practice vocabulary, to enact a trip to the store, The Price is Right game (incorporates number practice), and much more.

(Kendra Montiel) Vips is a very popular restaurant in Mexico and their website provides their menu complete with pictures and detailed descriptions of the food. This authentic menu would be great to use for practicing food vocabulary and enacting a restaurant scenario in the class, as well as for stimulating discussion about the differences in cuisine from country to country.

(Kendra Montiel) The Weather Channel offers this website in Spanish, therefore it is a great way for students to practice and get more exposure to the weather vocabulary. It also gives students the chance to compare weather patterns of other countries with our own and explore how weather might affect cultural elements.

(Kendra Montiel) The Newseum displays the front page of daily newspapers from all over the world. They can be sorted by region and then by country. This is a great resource for finding authentic texts as well as a rich source for material to spark cultural discussions.
