The Pew Internet and American Life Project has produced The Mobile Difference, a report into the gadget preferences and mobile lifestyles of groups within the US population. The report defines two sets of five cohorts. Adults 'Motivated by Mobility' (39%): Adults who are the 'Stationary Media Majority' (61%):

Netbooks violate all the laws of the computer hardware business. Traditionally, development trickles down from the high end to the mass market. PC makers target early adopters with new, ultrapowerful features. Years later, those innovations spread to lower-end models.

Kids these days have it all-their own laptops, cell phones, music players, and even digital cameras. A new report from the NPD Group says that use of these devices has grown by an "impressive" rate among 4 to 14 year olds, and that their usage is even changing over time as technology matures.
