Rainbow trout were introduced in to the UK from the US in early 1900s.
This introduction coincided with the necessity to build additional water supplies for the growing industrial towns such as Bristol and Birmingham.
For-a fish that's not able to reproduce naturally in all but several British streams the Rainbow trout continues to be an incredible achievement. This is due to its eagerness to give in contrast to the native brown trout and its habit of shoaling.
These two soon made it a firm favourite with the fishermen and because of the Rainbow trouts faster development rate it was a with the fish farmer as-well.
The only fly in the ointment was that two different strains of rainbow trout were glowfx applied the Kamloops and the Shasta tension. Unfortunately these pressures became sexually mature at differing times of the entire year.
This resulted in fishermen catching coloured fish in both late and early period.
This problem was solved by the development of egg treatment by producing Diploid rainbow trout which were all sterile women. This triggered fish all year round. As an advantage these trout also grew faster.
The introduction of these sexless rainbow trout had another benefit for your fisherman. It opened the doorway for the abolition of the closed period for rainbow trout. Strain from both fishery owners and fishermen required the abolition of the closed season.
The fishery owners benefited out of this move and the faster growth rate of the diploid rainbow bass soon triggered a national record fish.
Consequently a battle started between fish farmers to develop bigger and bigger rainbow trout to meet up the requirements of the fishermen.
Still another race started between fishery owners to stock these large rainbow trout to attract fishermen with their fisheries.
Selective breeding has since pushed up the expansion rate of both rainbow trout and brown trout much more.
In conjunction with intensive feeding programs and egg treatment todays Jumbo rainbows have been produced by this.
This has generated a totally confusing situation in the record fish list where split up records now exist for all trout species. There are now separate records for fish which have been recently filled against fish that have been in the water for a time period or fish that are wild.
Note. The existing British record for rainbow trout stands at 33Lb. 4oz.GloFX LED and Glow Products 2365 Centerville Rd. Tallahassee, Florida 32308
