Expansion alloys, also known as thermal expansion alloys, are widely used in a variety of fields, such as electronics, precision measuring tools, precision instrument and cryogenic engineering. Alloy GH4145, also known as Inconel X 750, is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium alloy used for its corrosion and oxidation resistance and high strength at temperatures up to 700℃. Although much of the effect of precipitation hardening is lost with increasing temperature over 700℃, heat-treated material has useful strength up to 980℃. Alloy GH4145 also has excellent properties down to cryogenic temperatures.

GH4169 is the most widely used Nickel-based superalloy for turbine disc in gas turbine and jet engines with service temperatures up to 923 K because of its high temperature strength and corrosion resistance.
