Nearly 1.3 million children in Bihar work instead of attending school, according to official census figures. But Indian officials believe the number is higher. Because of Bihar's location, close to the border with Nepal, it is a major transit point for women and children who are trafficked both into and out of the country.
Two towns where people got really upset about undocumented immigrants, even though in both places, that did not seem to be the most important thing happening at all. One of the towns, a small town in Alaska, has no undocumented immigrants at all, but the possibility of them arriving put the whole town at each other's throats.
"It's late afternoon when two men emerge from the Northwest Detention Center.
One is an immigration officer. The other is a young Latino man, wearing a black Adidas jacket.
"It's show time," said Scott Goddard, a volunteer with the nonprofit community group Advocates for Immigrants in Detention Northwest. Every day in Tacoma, volunteers like Goddard wait outside the facility's tall chain-link gate to watch for people who get released from this immigration lockup. They offer them food, shelter and help to get home."
The dinner was part of Refugees Welcome, a campaign that encourages locals across the U.S. to host similar meals for refugees in their community - and to break barriers by breaking bread together.
"Bottom line: So-called real Americans are screwing up America. Maybe they should leave, so that we can replace them with new and better ones: newcomers who are more appreciative of what the United States has to offer, more ambitious for themselves and their children, and more willing to sacrifice for the future. In other words, just the kind of people we used to be - when "we" had just come off the boat."

Internally displaced people, or IDPs, have fled war and violence - but unlike refugees, they have not crossed international borders to reach safety. In Georgia, there are more than 250,000 IDPs, displaced by multiple conflicts in the country's brief post-Soviet history. As is the case for IDPs everywhere, they are dependent on their own government, not the international community, for assistance.
When Mexican-American artist Nora Litz first talked with her students about immigration - she was shocked to hear how scared they were.
"I felt I had to do something," she says. She was already teaching a children's writing workshop - but she decided to offer a specific weekend class for kids with parents in the country illegally - targeted at the Mexican population in downtown Philadelphia.
The class is called Illustrated Stories of Immigration - a free, two-hour comics workshop led by artists and writers every Saturday.
